Our Team

Micayla Cochran is a member of the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Engagement and Education Team. She helps lead Sea Grant-supported teacher professional development programs at The University of Southern Mississippi Marine Education Center (MEC) and a variety of education and outreach initiatives supported by Sea Grant and other funders. At the Marine Education Center, Micayla serves as the project manager for engagement programming.

She earned a Master of Science in coastal sciences from The University of Southern Mississippi and holds a Bachelor of Arts in ecology, evolution and organismal biology and Spanish from Vanderbilt University. Prior to joining the MEC in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant’s engagement and education team, she participated in the University of Georgia Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant Marine Education Fellowship, where she gained experience developing and delivering marine education programs.
