Andrea Tarnecki is an assistant extension professor at Auburn University's School of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Sciences.
She connects with shellfish farmers and stakeholders to identify current and emerging limitations to the shellfish industry. She transfers relevant information and technologies to farmers and consumers through on-site demonstrations, seminars, extension publications and social media.
She has a Ph.D. in fisheries, aquaculture and aquatic sciences from Auburn University and a bachelor's degree in biology from Middle Tennessee State University.
In addition to her extension and research work at the Auburn University Shellfish Lab, she is an adjunct scientist with Mote Marine Laboratory, where she formerly served as a staff scientist and microbiology division lead in the marine immunology program.
