We are seeking your input through an online survey to identify the needs of coastal Alabama and Mississippi. This survey is available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese:

The Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium (MASGC) is a federal and state partnership between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and public universities in the two-state region, and we implement our programs through an integrated process and strong partnerships with the public and the private sector.

Your input will help us develop MASGC’s next strategic plan, which will be implemented using the program's functional areas:

  • Research – Supports relevant university-based coastal and social science research to solve the real-world problems affecting the coastal region.

  • Education – Offers formal and informal experiences and training to improve marine science literacy among students, teachers and the public.

  • Legal – Conducts research on marine laws and policies to inform coastal and ocean policy-makers.

  • Engagement – Works with residents, scientists, community leaders, businesses, resource managers and others to increase the use of research discovery to improve the economic, environmental and social sustainability and resilience of our region.

  • Communications – Provides communications support for all MASGC programs.

The seven-question survey, which should take less than 15 minutes, will be available through Thursday, June 16. Input will be used to guide the development of our program's next federally approved strategic plan. Our current 2018-2023 Strategic Plan is available online.

MASGC focuses its investments in the following areas:

  • Environmental literacy and workforce development

  • Healthy coastal ecosystems

  • Resilient communities and economies

  • Sustainable fisheries and aquaculture

Please draw from your experience with and knowledge of the problems our region currently faces and the anticipated problems we will face over the next several years. We appreciate all feedback.
