Oyster gardening oysters are about a month old, and have grown significantly from our June start. 

Program wide, our mean height is 21.6 mm, a 300-percent increase from our starting size of approximately 7 mm. Gardeners from around Mobile Bay are busily caring for their baby oysters in anticipation of a November planting of degraded reef sites in and around Mobile Bay. 

Proposals to initiate a gardening program in Mississippi have been submitted, and if successful, a Mississippi Oyster Gardening program will be initiated in 2016 modeled on the successful Alabama program.
