The Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium and The Clean Marina Program will be giving away lidded, 5-gallon buckets at The Wharf Marina on Canal Road in Orange Beach beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 25. The buckets are designed to be used as lidded trash cans for boaters and onshore anglers.

People who sign a pledge to practice clean boating habits and to help keep trash out of coastal waterways will receive free buckets while supplies last. They also will qualify to win two free tickets to a concert at The Amphitheater at the Wharf.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, State Lands Division, Coastal Section, developed the Alabama Clean Boater’s and Angler’s Pledge. Clean Marinas, such as Zeke’s Landing Marina and Dog River Marina, and Clean Marina Pledges, such as The Wharf Marina and Sanroc Cay Marina, are working across the coastal area to help distribute the Clean Boating Pledges.

People who sign the pledge promise to bring boat trash to shore for proper disposal, to prevent debris from falling overboard and to encourage other boaters and anglers to take pride in coastal waters.

We can all pitch in to keep our coastal waters clean. For more information about Clean Boating see http://www.masgc.org/cleanmarinas/cleanboat.htm or contact Shonda Borden at (251) 438-5690 or at [email protected].
