Ocean Springs, MS — Dr. Barry A. Costa-Pierce, Director of Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium, has been selected as the new Section Editor of the Husbandry and Management Section of AQUACULTURE, announced Hetty Verhagen, Senior Publishing Editor for Aquatic Biology at Elsevier Science, publisher of the Journal. As Section Editor, Costa-Pierce will coordinate the solicitation, review, editing, and selection of all papers submitted for publication in marine and freshwater aquaculture husbandry and management.

AQUACULTURE is the most prestigious international science journal in the growing field. The journal publishes research on the exploration, improvement, and management of all aquatic food resources—marine, freshwater, animal and plant resources—from a wide range of interdisciplinary scientists.

Research project provides new estimates of greater amberjack abundance in U.S. South Atlantic, Gulf of America

A multi-year research project to estimate the number of greater amberjack in the U.S. South Atlantic and Gulf of America has provided new insight into the species. The Greater Amberjack Count was led by Sean P. Powers, Ph.D., fisheries ecology professor and Director of the Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences of the University of South Alabama.
