The Call for Abstracts for the Bays and Bayous Symposium is now available. The symposium will be held at the Mobile Convention Center in Mobile, Alabama, on Jan. 24-25, 2023.

Scientists (including students and early career professionals), resource managers, elected officials or agency representatives, community action group members, industry delegates and others are invited to highlight their efforts and accomplishments through oral presentations, individually or in dedicated or alternative group sessions, or poster presentations. Please take special note of the Alternative Format Session for which the Program Committee supports the development of dynamic, creative and interactive events.

Bays and Bayous 2018.

The symposium provides a forum for discussion and exchange of information and experiences relating to several thematic areas related to coastal environments. Tracks include: understanding coastal ecosystems; improving coastal management; strengthening coastal landscapes; sharing coastal knowledge; and emerging coastal issues.

Abstracts must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2022.

Research project provides new estimates of greater amberjack abundance in U.S. South Atlantic, Gulf of America

A multi-year research project to estimate the number of greater amberjack in the U.S. South Atlantic and Gulf of America has provided new insight into the species. The Greater Amberjack Count was led by Sean P. Powers, Ph.D., fisheries ecology professor and Director of the Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences of the University of South Alabama.
