Volunteer registration for the 2015 Mississippi Coastal Cleanup is now open. Groups, families and individuals are invited register online to help pick up trash along the Gulf Coast from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Mississippi Coastal Cleanup is the state's largest cleanup effort and includes more than 60 sites in Harrison, Hancock and Jackson counties, as well as the barrier islands. A complete list of cleanup sites can be found on both the online and paper registration forms or by clicking here.

Pre-registration is encouraged.

Trash bags, gloves, data cards and pencils will be provided. Volunteers also will receive a reusable Coastal Cleanup bag and a free lunch on the day of the cleanup at Jones Park (Gulfport), the Washington Street Pavilion (Bay St. Louis) or Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus Estuarine Education Center (Gautier).

Last year, 2,000 volunteers collected 1,603 bags of trash on the Coast's mainland and barrier island beaches and waterways, as well as lakes, rivers, marshes, bayous and estuaries south of Interstate 10.
