This first-of-its kind event will feature nationally relevant issues and discussions along with region-specific workshops.

Whether you call them "soft shorelines," "living shorelines," "soft armoring" or "soft stabilization," this event is for you! Along with national and regional discussions, the event will provide lots of networking opportunities and an optional field session.

On the first day, panels of national experts will tackle the following topics:

* Science and Ecosystem Services

* Policy, Permitting and Regulation

* Outreach, Education and Engagement

* Valuation and Innovative Financing

During the second day, attendees will have the option of attending one of the regional sessions. Local teams will lead the regional discussions as they take on such topics as barriers to implementation, resource needs, successful approaches and next steps. The regional sessions include: Great Lakes, Northeast (New York to Maine), Mid-Atlantic (Virginia to New Jersey), Southeast (North Carolina to Florida), Gulf Coast and West Coast.

Round out the conference with an optional field session on Day 3. Attendees will learn firsthand about the Sacred Heart University project at Stratford Point, Conn.

Certified Floodplain Managers will receive six continuing education credits for attending the workshop.
