The Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium (MASGC) is accepting pre-proposals for one- or two-year innovative research projects that address coastal issues.

Pre-proposals in the 2016-18 research funding competition must apply to at least one of these MASGC focus areas: Healthy Coastal Ecosystems, Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture or Resilient Communities and Economies.

Funding requests of no more than $75,000 per year are recommended. A 50-percent non-federal match is required for all projects.

MASGC welcomes pre-proposals from principal investigators (PIs) who are affiliated with an academic or research laboratory institution of higher education in Alabama or Mississippi. Co-principal investigators (Co-PIs) on projects can be from institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations, commercial organizations, individuals, tribal, state and local governments.

The deadline for pre-proposals is Feb. 20, 2015.
