Brandi Clarke has joined the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium as an assistant grants administrator.
She will work with the administrative team in the Ocean Springs, Miss., office on The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Lab campus. She will assist in planning and organizing grant competitions, preparing budgets, tracking projects and numerous other duties.
“Growth in our competitive research grants program led to the need to hire a part-time assistant grants administrator to work with our current staff,” MASGC Director LaDon Swann said. “We hired her after reviewing more than 70 applications. She has considerable grants management experience and also has demonstrated ability to write fundable grants. Both strengths were high on our list of requirements for our program.”
“I am pleased to have been selected for the position with MASGC’s administrative office,” Clarke said. “So far, my experience working with Dr. Swann and his professional team has been one of utmost enjoyment. I look forward to assisting the Sea Grant program in accomplishing its objectives and seeking new opportunities.”
Clarke is the owner and managing member of J.W. Hall, LLC, a consulting business that offers services, such as organizational development, grant writing, event planning, meeting facilitation, financial management and contract and grant administration, to clients in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
Clarke has experience with grant development, management and compliance and is a former Chief Executive Officer of the Mental Health Association of Mississippi, a nonprofit organization.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from William Carey University.
Clarke lives in Biloxi with her 8-year-old daughter, Lauren, and their two dogs, Sally and Rosie.
