MASGC Director LaDon Swann said Leist’s experience in program coordination and marine sciences qualifies her for the position.

“Loretta joins MASGC with a very good science background and demonstrated experience in project management and tracking,” Swann said. “Both of these qualifications will be valuable to MASGC in serving as a bridge between the National Sea Grant Office and projects we manage.”

MASGC supports marine research and education with a focus on the Gulf of Mexico. With funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the states of Mississippi and Alabama, MASGC researchers and educators work to support conservation and sustainable development of coastal resources. Scientists target practical problems and develop solutions that benefit both the economy and the environment.
