Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant, Habitat for Humanity Bay-Waveland and Smart Home America will host a free luncheon and open house on Friday, Feb. 15, at the Mississippi Coast's first Fortified Gold and NAHB Green home in Bay St. Louis.

This Habitat for Humanity home is being built to Fortified Gold standards, which means builders are using techniques to minimize potential wind damage from storms. The house also will be NAHB Green, which means builders are using environmentally friendly building practices.

Guest tour guides familiar with Fortified and NAHB Green requirements will walk you through the home while they explain the features that make the home Gold Fortified and Green.

There will be a tour at 10 a.m.-noon. The tour repeats at 1-3 p.m. At noon, anyone who has registered is welcome to a complimentary lunch.
